In today’s newsletter, we’ll be going through the concept of Engagement why the awareness of it will change the game in your branding and messaging.
So how do we improve how we get seen in front of our target audiences?
Comparing Social Media and Email
When comparing social media engagement and email marketing, it's not about choosing one over the other but rather understanding how each can complement the other in a holistic marketing strategy.
Social Media through platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Youtube will only show 3-4% of your content to your audience.
For example, if you had 100k followers on your page, you’d be getting on average 3-4K watching your content. Might be higher depending on these factors as well.

Saves
Overall, these constitute as engagement for your shared content pieces. This does not mean you stop your content all together.
A confused mind doesn’t buy and if you don’t share what you do, how do people know what you do?
Content to your audience is showing them that you still are in operation.
So having a Social Presence is key when you operate via organic/paid exposure.
Email on the other hand has an average 40-50% open rate on any campaign you run using email software (I tend to ask my clients as well to maintain a list - you actually own this list and no one can take it away from you).
Your businesses’ email list is one of your greatest assets. It’s your client base and your audience.
Facebook and Google Ads have a 9-10% conversion rate for their ads which is slightly higher.
The downside is that you have to test your ad campaign budgets and do little tweaks to get the best ROAS (Return on ad spend).
Awareness of these platforms allow you to navigate the online business world with sharp and effective approaches.
The pros and cons between Social Media and Email Campaigns are as followed:
Audience Reach vs. Personalization: Social media allows for broader audience reach, while email offers more personalized communication.
Immediate Engagement vs. Sustained Relationships: Social media is excellent for immediate engagement and brand awareness, whereas email is effective for nurturing long-term customer relationships.
Content Lifespan and Visibility: Social media content is more ephemeral (for example, a typical Instagram post , while emails can be revisited and have a longer lifespan in a user’s inbox.
So depending on which strategy you run with, invest in one way of exposure first. Once it works, then expand to others.
This is what will create a working marketing funnel for your brand where your customers will be the raving fans for you rather than you having to being desperate to attract them.
